‘Free’ it says on the box in front of the charity shop - a box filled with donated items, unsellable but not considered landfill just yet. Those boxes could be seen as a consumerist twilight zone, a snapshot of our affluent society and our relationship to the objects we surround ourselves with. Once treasured toys, useful kitchen helpers and decorative knick-knacks, these objects carry unknown, lost narratives. Through a transformational process, the redundant items have been elevated to jewellery status. Instilled with new meaning and value, they invite the viewer or wearer to charge them with their own narratives.
