DRAwing from memory

2025

Jewellery serves as a vessel for memories. Heirloom pieces carry important stories, creating a sense of identity in the wearer, making them unique and irreplaceable. In times of war and conflict, jewellery is lost, destroyed, stolen, or bartered away. With it, the attached memories are irretrievably lost, leaving the sense of self damaged. These pieces evoke a vague memory of what once existed, of items worn in old photographs by ancestors whose names are forgotten. They are drawings from memory of something lost.

This series was shown as part of the SYNERGY Presence Absence exhibition at Tincal lab Gallery in Porto, Portugal, in 2025.
